Customizable Widget Form Factor

While listening to the January 30th episode of Boag World, Paul mentioned a new type of script called Custom Reading Width (CRW), which I think may be of special interest to widget developers.

CRW scripts provide a way for website visitors to resize certain containers on a web page themselves “on the fly.” For a live example of a CRW script, visit this demo page from devlounge. Click on the Resize link in the top left to activate the script.

It seems to me that one of the strengths of widgets is their small form factor. CRW could provide a way for widget developers to package their widgets into even smaller form factors which could then be expanded on demand by the widget user.

While not a developer myself, I did want to alert you widget developers about this new script and hear whether you think it may be of value when building widgets.

Please take a look and let us know you thoughts.
