Sochi 2014 Police Force To Be “English Ready”
Posted 11:25 am ET (GamesBids.com)

Sochi 2014 reports that the Krasnodar region where the 2014 Winter Games would be held should Sochi be successful in its bid, will have a regional police force that is “English ready”.

As part of a new initiative knowledge of English will be a requirement to enrolment in the Krasnodar police force and local linguists will develop a special English-Russian dictionary for use by the Krasnodar police officers.

Alexander Tkachev, Governor of the Krasnodar Region said, “in light of the Games in Sochi this is the main task at hand. Police officers must speak foreign languages, especially English, as it is the international language to use to communicate successfully with tourists. Even ordinary sergeants or district officers must speak good English as they are representatives of our city and moreover our great country”.
