Project Red is the ultimate in “social shopping.”
What a great combination of charity and consumerism. The basic gist is that every time you buy one of the “Red” products from a participating company (Motorola, AmEx, Gap, Armani, Converse, & Apple) a percentage of the profits goes to buy anti-retroviral medicine to help people fight AIDS in Africa.
I have created the web badge, which you can see above. I invite you to grab the embed code (thank you Word of Blog.net) and paste it on your blog. It’s what we, as bloggers, can do to show our support for Project Red.
Here’s a quote from the Project Red Manifesto. “(Red) is not a charity, it is simply a business model. You buy (Red) stuff. We get the money. Buy the pills and distribute them. They take the pills, stay alive. And continue to take care of their families and contribute socially and economically in their communities.”
Get your badge and display it proudly. BTW - Here’s the actual Project Red blog.
