Check out the other badge makers at the above link (you will need to probably scroll down the page a little to see the list). Be careful, it’s addictive.
I’d like to see the current crop of social visual bookmarking websites take a peek at what John has done and try to incorporate it into their javascript bookmarklets. The only difference being that instead of “pulling” photos from Flickr, they would pull images that reside natively on the internet.
Tell me I’m crazy but I am really excited about the possibilities for such badge makers. While I do not understand the code under the hood at John Watsons’ Flagrant Disregard blog, I would guess that it’s not super complicated.
The real value add part is doing licensing deals with content providers. Make your own Survivor Badge. How about an American Idol badge with you singing through an embedded audio file.
Now that I think about it, my wife and used Shutterfly last Christmas to do our Christmas card and were thrilled with the results. The process was not totally dissimilar to what John Watsons is doing at Flickr Toys.
OK. Who out there knows of any other badge makers? Carlos, can you guys incorporate some of the Flickr Toys functionality into Srapblog?
